The North Shore Horse and Pony Association liaises with local government bodies to maintain horseriding trails

The North Shore
Horse and Pony Association
was formed in 1975 to ensure that horses and horseriding activities continue to form a vital part of the community and lifestyle in Terrey Hills/Duffys Forest and in Ku-ring-gai and Garigal National Parks.

Our main purpose:
To liaise with both Warringah Council and Dept of Environment, Climate Change and Water (National Parks & Wildlife Service) in order to keep trails open and maintained in these areas.

Our ultimate aim:
To leave this area a better safer area for the future generations of horse riders while preserving and enhancing our natural heritage.

Our current goals:

  • To address immediate safety concerns on existing tracks
  • To maintain, develop and improve the existing fire trails to establish a network of trails attractive for walkers, horse riders and bicycles.

The North Shore Horse and Pony Association is a non-profit association and membership money is kept for any action plans that need to be undertaken in the event of closing trails or otherwise restricting horse access.

As most people are aware, we are constantly forced to negotiate permission to ride in the National Parks. NSHPA needs your support with membership if we are to have a louder voice when working to keep trails open and local horse facilities maintained in National Parks and similar areas.
